Viet Nam's daily COVID-19 count on Friday surpassed 2,000 mark for the fourth consecutive day, brining the total caseload to 11,192,043 in the country.

The national tally includes 9,957,655 recovered cases and 43,094 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health.

Pham reiterated effective management of COVID-19 will help facilitate the ongoing recovery process while presiding over the 16th meeting of the national steering committee for COVID-19 response held in Ha Noi this morning.

He tasked local authorities to complete administration of the third and fourth shots of COVID-19 vaccines to targeted groups and the second dose to children aged 5-11 right within August.

The Government chief also urged the healthcare sector to continue keeping close watch on the pandemic, especially new COVID-19 variants and design response plans to deal with all scenarios./.
