The agreement was signed by Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung and Lao Minister of Science and Technology Boviengkham Vongdara in Vientiane, Laos on January 11.

The agreement aims to promote cooperation programs between the two nations in terms of digital technology development, digital transformation, digital infrastructure, digital trade and investment, digital innovation, digital R&D, cyber security and collaboration at digital forums.

It affirms the highest priority of both sides in expanding coordination in digital service and technology and digital transformation, thus promoting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement is among the 10 cooperative documents inked in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Lao counterpart Sonexay Siphandone within the framework of the Vietnamese leader's official visit to Laos from January 11-12.

Among the deals are those on mutual legal assistance, waterway transportation, and cooperation in training in foreign affairs and international integration for Laos' officials.

They include a protocol on training cooperation between the two governments for the 2022-27 period, and the 2023 cooperation plan between the Ministry of Education and Training of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos.

Also being signed were four memoranda of understanding on cooperation in finance, health, and economic diplomacy consultation, and on the friendly relationship between Viet Nam's Quang Tri Province and Laos' Champasak Province.
